Micaceous Cups   Clay Rendering

Pottery

Micaceous clay pottery is unique in its ability to be used directly on the stove top- gas or electric- the oven, or the fire. The clay is harvested in Northern New Mexico by hand in small batches and rendered down to the necessary purity and consistency. We coil build each vessel, scraping, sanding, slipping (not glazing), and polishing every piece by hand before vitrifying them in a small bonfire. Food cooked in these pots (from beans and soup to pie and jam) is made of story and earth.

Please contact us if you are interested in purchasing custom built micaceous clay bean pots or mugs.
